Scope and Contents Biographical notes on Aulay MacAulay and Tormod Clèireach [Norman MacIver], telling how Aulay MacAulay died in 1760 and that he was the son of Fear Bhreinish [Dugald MacAulay, Brenish, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis]. There is a note of a daughter who left at fifteen years old although it is not clear if it is Dugald or Aulay's daughter. Aulay is noted as having three daughters. Also mentioned is a family member living with Aulay's brother-in-law Rev Mr Hamilton at Hoy, Orkney [Arcaibh]....

Charm entitled 'Gulman' collected from Alexander Urquhart, tailor, 'An Gaidheal', Gearrloch [Geàrr Loch/Gairloch, Ros is Cromba/Ross and Cromarty] beginning 'An t ainm s an sloinneadh, S padir Dhe h aon' for healing the eye. Urquhart states in the accompanying narrative how gold and silver must be put in the basin of water and put on wood and then rubbed over the eye. He states that he cured at least forty people.
